Benefit of using JV3
JV3 will enable the building owner, builder, architect or other practitioners to comply with the NCC requirement using a customised, cost-effective solution. For example, using single glazing and extra insulation on the roof rather than using high-performance glazing, such as double glazing; removing the floor insulation and adding extra insulation in walls rather than insulation floors.
Caution:
The purpose of the document is to deliver clear interpretations of the NCC energy efficiency requirements
This document is not intended to:
· override or replace any legal rights, responsibilities or obligations; or
· provide users with the specifics of the NCC.
Background:
The NCC comprises the Building Code of Australia (BCA) Volumes One and Two; and the Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA), as Volume Three.
All new build buildings must meet the Performance Requirements, which can be achieved by using a Performance Solution, a DtS Solution, or a combination of both.
A DtS Solution uses the DtS Provisions and any referenced documents contained within the NCC. For example, a DoS solution uses glazing calculator to define the glazing performance. Because the calculator only considers the façade and windows on it, the DTS glazing’s performance requirement is higher.
